Dump Truck Driving Jobs

Dump truck drivers transport loose materials using an open-bed truck. These materials include dirt, rocks, sand, coal and gravel. In colder climates, dump truck jobs may include removing accumulated snow from highways and roads. In most dump truck jobs, drivers are also responsible for cleaning and maintaining their truck.

A commercial driver's license is required to become a dump truck driver. While some companies hire individuals with no experience, specialized training is recommended. This training can be obtained by enrolling in a truck driving school or on the job by the hiring company.

The career outlook for dump truck drivers is growing slower than other truck driving jobs. If you are looking to satisfy your desire to be behind the wheel in a booming industry, we suggest looking into over-the-road (OTR) trucking jobs. There are plenty of OTR trucking jobs available that will provide on-the-job training for inexperienced drivers that have graduated from an approved training facility.
