Refrigerated Trucking Jobs

Refrigerated Trucking Jobs

As the title suggests, refrigerated carriers utilize a refrigeration unit in the cargo area of a trailer to protect temperature-controlled commodities. The term reefer is also used to describe these trailers. Reefer units are not only used in tractor trailers, but can also be found on straight trucks. The type of trucks used for hauling temperature-controlled goods can often vary based on the size of load and type of route. It could be an ice cream truck used for local delivery or large containers designed to deliver perishables across the country.

The driver of a refrigerated unit often has strict guidelines, established in their contract with the shipper, regarding the temperature variation allowed and must monitor and regulate the cargo area accordingly, throughout the shipment.

Refrigerated trailers are used to move many products that you use in your everyday life, including household goods, food and beverage, medical, pharmaceutical and more. Some examples of products that may need to be temperature controlled are: meat, dairy, medical supplies, computer products, chemicals, fresh produce, household cleaning products and more.
